Pirates, Privateers and Patriots Trip

Friday August 13
5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Ahoy Matey's! Take a paddle on the historic Potomac River with a certified interpretive naturalist guide. Listen to the eerie cries of great blue herons. Imagine the awe and wonder of Captain John Smith and crew as they sailed up the Patowomeck (river of Swan) 400 years ago. Hear tales of oysterman, merchant sailors, ships of the line, privateers, and pirates. Before turning back, we will put ashore for a beach campfire fandango! Sing sea chanteys and learn the art and artifice of flags. Wager gold doubloons in a game of Morgan's Revenge. Bring drinking water, extra clothing, water shoes/sandals and optionally a waterproof camera and/or binoculars. Children 6-12 must paddle with adult. Cost is $25.00 for a tandem kayak, $19.00 for a solo, and $10.00 if you bring your own. Reservations may be made by calling 1-800-933-PARK.
