Choptank Heritage Skipjack Race

Saturday September 25
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Watch a race of skipjacks from throughout the Chesapeake Bay, hosted by Cambridge's ambassador skipjack, Nathan of Dorchester.

The beautiful Choptank River provides a perfect course for the race, with views from Long Wharf and other locations along its banks.

Each race is unique with these fast-disappearing icons of the Chesapeake competing in a swift or leisurely event, depending upon the wind.

One of only two skipjack races left on the Bay, this is a unique opportunity to view as many as 8 or 10 of these traditional vessels in one location.

The Nathan of Dorchester does not take passengers along during the race, but does offer a public sail from 3 to 5 the afternoon of race day.
