Belle Isle Stroll

Saturday May 29
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

This walking tour will focus on Belle Isle as a microcosm of Richmond’s industrial development as portrayed by the Old Dominion Iron and Steel ruins, the remnants of the Virginia Power hydroelectric plant, evidence of quarrying operations, and the Civil War prisoner-of-war camp site. Wear good walking shoes or boots – we will be going off the trail at times. Your may also want to bring a canteen and insect repellent. Meet at the north end of the Belle Isle footbridge on Tredegar Street beneath the Lee Bridge. From downtown Richmond, follow 5th Street South to Tredegar Street. Turn right onto Tredegar St. Parking lot is to your right, just past the Tredegar Ironworks.
