12:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Virginia's natural heritage comes alive at the museum's new building where visitors will watch more than 150 different species of animals swim, slither, roam and fly.
The building features four main gallery areas, four hands-on discovery centers, two-level walk-through habitats, a new observatory, double helix staircase, glass elevator and an expanded gift shop. The Chesapeake Bay Aquarium was partially funded with a grant fron the Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network.
The building connects to a 3/4-mile elevated boardwalk with animals native to Virginia exhibited in natural habitats.
