Civil War Days at Fort McHenry

Saturday August 21 - Sunday August 22

Although best known as the “Birthplace of the National Anthem,” Fort McHenry also played an important role during the American Civil War. Find out why people were arrested for singing “Maryland My Maryland,” why some viewed the fort as a symbol of tyranny and others saw it as a bastion of liberty. Union soldiers bring the fort alive during the Civil War era by mounting guard, barracks activities, musket drills and interplay with Southern sympathizers. * As an added bonus, the Baltimore Brass Ensemble will conduct a special concert of Civil War music at 1:00 p.m. & 3:00 p.m.
