When paddling within the watershed, one person's carelessness or inactions may not seem like a lot, but when combined with the actions of many thousands of users, the actions are magnified and can greatly harm the watershed.

That is why the Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network supports the Leave No Trace ideal and practices. Leave No Trace, or LNT, builds awareness, appreciation and respect for our natural and cultural resources. LNT principles apply to all outdoor activities including paddling. It is an ethical program, one that is designed to educate users about the nature of their recreational impacts through the use of ideals, rather then a set of rules and regulations.
