| Brief Description: | Janes Island State Park encompasses 2,900 acres of Chesapeake Bay marsh, beach, and highland, and is bordered on the west by Tangier Sound. The park is dissected by many small waterways, with 30 miles of trails marked for canoes and kayaks. The park and the Tangier Sound region are the habitat for abundant waterfowl and other birds, as well as fish and shellfish populations. | ||
| Location / Directions: | Park is in Somerset County near Crisfield. From Rt. 13 on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, head toward Westover, then take Rt. 413 approximately 11 miles to Plantation Road (right turn). It will be 1 ½ miles to the park entrance on the right (Alfred Lawson Drive). | ||

| Activities: | Programming at the park’s nature center provides visitors with a look at the human, cultural, and natural resource stories of the Eastern Shore’s Tangier Sound. Activities include fishing, crabbing, flat water canoeing and kayaking trips, guided hunting and birdwatching, and camp fire programs. The beach area is only accessible by boat. On-line camping and over-night reservations are available through the park's website.

| Operating Hours: | Overnight accommodations available April through October. Park is open for day use activities year round, from 8 a.m. to sunset. | ||
| Fees: | No fee for day use. Camping fees are $25 ($30 with electric) and cabins are $50 per night. There are also fees for group picnic areas and canoe/kayak rental. | ||
| Visitor Facilities: | Janes Island State Park offers accessible restrooms, 4 full-service cabins which sleep six (these are available all year long), 5 camper cabins that sleep four, the conference center that sleeps 16 and is available all year for rental, 104 campsites--of which ten sites are pet-friendly, the Nature/Environmental Education Center, the fish cleaning table, dock area and the conference center. RV area with electric hook ups. Boat launch area and boat rental, large covered pavilions for group picnics. | ||
