Brief Description: The Solomons Regional Information Center will help you find your way to Chesapeake Gateways in southern Maryland and to this beautiful town's other attractions. Solomons is a quiet 128-year old waterfront village located in Calvert County where the Patuxent River meets the Chesapeake Bay. Settled comfortably around a deep, protected harbor rimmed with busy marinas, the area has become a major visitor destination in historic Southern Maryland. Visit nearby Gateways, stroll the Riverwalk, sail to a sandy beach for your own private picnic, or catch a Rockfish.
Location / Directions:

The Solomons Visitor Information Center is located on MD routes 2/4 at the foot of the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge directly across the street from the Calvert Marine Museum.

From the North:

  • Pick up US Route 301 South (from US Route 50) and follow to MD Route 2/4 South towards Prince Frederick and Solomons.
  • At Solomons, turn right immediately before crossing bridge, then left at stop sign to Center on left.

From the South (Virginia):

  • Take US Route 301 North to MD Route 234.
  • Turn right onto MD Route 234 and follow to MD Route 5.
  • Turn right onto MD Route 5 through Leonardtown and then left onto MD Route 4.
  • Cross over Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge; take first right off bridge, then right at stop sign to immediate right to Center on right.

The Center provides visitor information services. It is located directly across the Calvert Marine Museum, a Chesapeake Bay Gateway site. This facility, accredited by the American Association of Museums, offers educational exhibits, programs, and publications relating to the marine paleontology of the Calvert Cliffs, estuarine biology of the Patuxent River, and local maritime history.

  • Jan 2 – Mar 15: Thursday – Sunday, 9 am – 5 pm.
  • Mar 15 – Oct 30: daily, 9 am – 5 pm.
  • Nov 1 – Dec 31: Thursday – Sunday, 9 am – 5 pm.
Fees: No admission fee
Visitor Facilities: The Center provides brochures and maps on many bay-related sites and attractions in the Southern Maryland area. Current and up-to-date information is available on visitor accommodations, restaurants, recreational activities including fishing and golf, marinas, historical landmarks, upcoming events and festivals, antiquing and shopping. There are several inns, guesthouses and fine hotels in the Solomons area and over twenty restaurants.
Accessibility: The Visitor Information Center is handicapped-accessible. Parking is available at the site.
