Brief Description: Located in the heart of Cambridge, the Museum invites visitors to discover the wooden boatbuilding heritage of Dorchester County and the surrounding region. A unique collection of traditional Chesapeake Bay ship models, tools and artifacts brings that heritage alive for visitors of all ages. The Museum's new Ruark Boatworks facility is passing on the knowledge and skills of area boatwrights to volunteers and visitors alike. Watch boatbuilding in action as the Museum fulfills its mission of "Putting History on the Water."
Location / Directions: The Museum is located at 401 High Street in Cambridge, MD.

From the North:Take US Route 50 to Cambridge, MD. Shortly after crossing the Choptank River bridge, turn right on Maryland Avenue. Proceed several blocks, crossing a bridge over Cambridge Creek, to Academy Street and turn right. Proceed a short distance to where Academy turns to Spring Street and continue to High Street. Turn left on to High and proceed about two blocks to the museum.

From the South:Take US Route 50 to Cambridge, MD. Prior to crossing the Choptank River bridge and leaving Cambridge, turn left on Maryland Avenue. Activities: A dovetail workboat is now undergoing restoration at the museum's boatworks several blocks away on Maryland Avenue. Visitors are welcome to observe.

Operating Hours: The Museum is open Wednesday & Sunday 1-4 p.m., Saturday 10-4 p.m.; or by appointment. Work is in progress at the Ruark Boatworks on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 9-2 pm. A docent is on duty from 1-4 pm on Saturdays.
Fees: Free admission; donations welcome
Accessibility: Handicap parking, a ramp and chairlift are available at the museum. A ramp is also available at boatworks several blocks away.
