Paddle the historic Potomac River with an interpretive naturalist guide, glide by the majestic Horsehead Cliffs towering over two hundred feet. Observe marine Miocene strata that date back millions of years. Imagine the awe and wonder of Captain John Smith and crew as they sailed up the Patowomeck,(river of Swan) 400 years ago, watching for the villages of Native Americans. Look for bald eagles, great blue herons, king fishers, and cliff swallows that are flying and feeding. Stretch your legs on Fossil Beach and look for evidence of the past. You can even keep what you find. Bring drinking water, extra clothing, water shoes/sandals. You may want to bring a waterproof camera and/or binoculars. Children 6-12 must paddle with adult. Price is $25.00 for a tandem kayak, $19.00 for a solo, and $10.00 if you bring your own kayak.
