Description:Piney Point Located 14 miles up the Potomac River from the Bay at Piney Point. Automated 1939. Conical, 35-foot brick tower, with a whte two-story keeper's cottage a few paces away. Deactivated 1964. Owned and maintained by St. Mary’s County as part of St. Clement's Island - Potomac River Museum.
Type of Structure:Short masonry tower with dark red lantern room.
Purpose:Warns of shoals at Piney Point and Ragged Point across he river.
Interesting Facts:Constructed by John Donohoo on a budget of $5,000.
