Knocks Folly Interpretive Center

block Turner's Creek Park & Sassafras Natural Resource Management Area

This project will develop an interpretive center within and around the historic "Knocks Folly", a structure that dates back to the 18th Century and a centerpiece of the Turner's Creek community. The Center will highlight (1) the historic nature of the Turners Creek area and it's importance to the early agricultural trade of Maryland and how the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers served as critical trade routes, and (2) the natural environment of the Sassafras Natural Resources Management Area, neighboring Turners Creek County Park and the waters of the Sassafras River. The Center will promote awareness of the environment and stewardship of the lands.

Amount Funded: $26,000.00

Start Date: 08/01/2008
