Improving Existing Trailheads through Orientation & Interpretive Signage Development

block Elk Neck State Park

This project will improve access and interpretation on the Elk Neck State Park trail system. New interpretive sigange on the trail system will highlight Chesapeake Bay ecology and the role each visitor has in conserving and protecting Chesapeake Bay resources. Interpretation will also feature the histories of Captain John Smith’s 1608 explorations and the Turkey Point Lighthouse. Community volunteers will assist in installing the new signage, utilizing low-impact, environmentally responsible techniques.
