Living Green in the Watershed

block Virginia Living Museum

This project will promote Chesapeake Bay stewardship through a "Green" house education/exhibit center and a surrounding Backyard Habitat Garden. The "Green" house will showcase a living (plant covered) green roof and contain inside displays about rain barrels, renewable energy options, low energy light fixtures, environmentally-friendly building materials and a computer kiosk to calculate one's environmental "footprint"; the surrounding Backyard Habitat Garden will display options for homeowners to create a more environmentally-friendly yard. This project will produce hands-on environmental information, interactive displays and on-site conservation projects to encourage volunteer participation.

Amount Funded: $150,000.00

Start Date: 10/03/2007
