Great Bridge Lock Park Interpretive Master Plan and Orientation Kiosks

block Great Bridge Lock Park

Perched alongside the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway that brings thousands of boats in and out of the Chesapeake Bay, Great Bridge Lock Park in Chesapeake, Virginia is preparing for a major expansion in 2007, with four separate "quadrants" of land merging into a single park. The master plan developed under this grant will guide the interpretive strategy used to engage visitors with the site's many historic, cultural, natural, and recreational resources. In addition, two orientation kiosks will be developed to set the stage for visitors to this expanded Gateway, which will offer new public access to an early Revolutionary War battle site.

Amount Funded: $23,400.00

Start Date: 09/15/2005
