block Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine

Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, in partnership with, the Maryland Office of Tourism Development (OTD), will produce a new guide to the Chesapeake Campaign of the War of 1812. The guide will provide travelers and visitors to Fort McHenry with an opportunity to discover the many untold stories leading up to the event that spawned the writing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The British invasion of the Chesapeake links Fort McHenry and its Chesapeake Flotilla living history unit with several other Gateway sites around the Chesapeake Bay. The guide will explore these stories and links and help visitors understand the Chesapeake's central role in the War of 1812. OTD will work with Fort McHenry, the other 1812 related Gateways sites and additional stakeholders to promote visitation to sites identified in the brochure.
