Oysters on the Half Shell

block Annapolis Maritime Museum

This major project will help transform the Annapolis Maritime Museum into a wonderful place to explore the cultural and natural history of the oyster. Located in the McNasby Oyster Company building, the only remaining of 27 oyster packing houses in the county, the museum already has a unique environment. Through this project, visitors and school groups will explore a series of engaging and interactive exhibits to discover the importance of the oyster to the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem, to the lives of the people who have lived here, and how places like McNasby's had a profound impact on the oyster population. Visitors will leave with a challenge to engage in one of the many oyster restoration programs and participate in Bay stewardship.

Amount Funded: $82,550.00
