Wharves at Choptank Crossing - Denton, MD
Wharves at Choptank Crossing
Photo Tour
Located on the upper Choptank River at the Town of Denton, the Wharves at Choptank Crossing showcases the bygone experience of life along the Eastern Shore's rivers and working waterfronts. The “Wharves” site connects both the east and west sides of the Choptank, encompassing over two thousand feet of riverfront.

On the river's west side, the Joppa Steamboat Wharf, includes a new visitor center and maritime transportation museum. Three historic Chesapeake Bay Skipjacks are based at the site along with several historic buildings and the close-by Town of Denton Historic District. Both sides of the river also serve as access sites for the Choptank & Tuckahoe Rivers Water Trail, providing over 80 miles of river boating routes to historic port towns, fisheries, villages and natural areas.

Hours: April - November 11- 3 Thurs-Sat
Fees: Donations encouraged.
