Key Features: | A variation on the deadrise workboat with a narrow beam and a rounded stern that rakes forward to the deck, so that the hull is longest at the waterline. Known as dovetails in some places (and formerly called torpedo sterns), draketails were built mainly on and near Hooper’s Island, Maryland. |

Period of Use: | c. 1910 - 1990. Most were built before 1950, and earlier examples were proportionately narrower. Few if any are still working today. |
