Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum - St. Michaels, MD
Activities:

The museum offers a number of tours for 2nd through 12th grade groups, bird watching cruises during fall migrations, carving workshops, and lectures on history of the Bay. Two large annual events are the OysterFest and Mid-Atlantic Small Craft Festival.

Facilities: Museum includes 18 acres on the waterfront and 14 historic structures housing exhibits, boats, and workshops. The spacious grounds and piers are the setting for festivals, sailing lessons and educational boat tours.
Accessibility: Most buildings are wheelchair accessible.
Lighthouse:

Hooper Strait Lighthouse - Screwpile lighthouse originally constructed at the entrance to Tangier Sound, moved to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, MD (1967), after being decommissioned. When the first light was carried away by ice in 1877, it was rebuilt with a six-sided, one and a half story cottage. First-floor rooms had 200-gallon water tanks that collected rainwater. Automated in 1954; deactivated 1966. Owned and maintained by the museum. (Learn More)
