Gloucester Point Beach offers a wonderful opportunity to swim and fish along the York River. Food, drink, restrooms, outdoor showers, water, and a shady deck are provided at the Beach house, and a picnic shelter may be rented for gatherings. The shelter is conveniently located near the playground, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, restrooms, outdoor shower, concessions stand, beach, and fishing pier. There are also several small, free picnic sites with picnic tables and charcoal grills located at each site. For those who want a break from the beach, consider driving over to Tyndall’s Point Park. Only a short distance away from the Beach, Tyndall’s Point played an important role in both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Also adjacent to the public beach is the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) Teaching Marsh and Coastal Forested Wetland Walk. |
